Adjustable Gastric banding
A tight band is implanted around the mouth of the stomach that is thereby narrowed. After adjustable gastric banding you experience fullness already after small meals. The band can be removed again if you regret it. The weight loss is 10-20 kg during the first year. The operation itself only rarely causes complications.

Gastric bypass
Performed in connection with an endoscopy where the space for food in the stomach is reduced and a piece of the small intestine is connected directly to the smaller stomach. Thereby, part of the gastrointestinal tract is ‘passed by’.

With a gastric bypass the intake of calories of the body is reduced in 2 ways – faster sensation of fullness and lower intake of calories from the intestine. The weight loss is 30-60 kg.
