Light Burns

By Bjarne Lühr Hansen PhD, MD and Philipp Skafte-Holm MD, Mentor Institute

Light burns cause redness to the skin. In the case of severe burns, blisters are formed or the skin breaks.

What can you do?

You must wash with lukewarm water until the pains have disappeared entirely. Most often you should wash for at least 15 minutes and sometimes for several hours. Hereafter, a dry bandage covers the area. If you are in pain, it is a good idea to take painkilling medication like paracetamol.

Contact the doctor tomorrow

If you are still in pain, in spite of your own treatment.

Contact the doctor immediately

If the burn is very big (bigger than a palm). If there are many blisters or if the skin has broken.
