Overweight gives reduced life quality and increases the risk of development of serious illnesses like thromboses, diabetes and cancer. Therefore, overweight has great expenses for both the overweight and the health care system and the society.

  • Moderate overweight (MBI 25-29,9) leads to increased sickliness.
  • Obesity (severe overweight) (BMI 30-44,5) leads to increased sickliness and early death.
  • Severe obesity (BMI > 45) shortens life with up to 10 years.
