Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons for disability and impaired quality of life. All people have experienced pain. Pain is one of the most common reasons for contacting your doctor.

Even though you cannot remove the pain, it can often be eased and it is possible – even with daily pain – to have an everyday life with positive experiences. If you know why you are in pain and what you can do yourself, it will be easier for you to sooth the pain.

The purpose of this chapter is to help you to do something about your pain. Knowledge to why pain breaks out and what can be done will help you.

Chronic Pain is divided into two sections:

1. Introduction
Describes what pain is, how it breaks out and how it can be experienced. Different kinds of pain is described.

2. Treatment of pain
Tells you what you and your doctor can do about pain. You can treat pain with painkilling medicine but there are also other possibilities, for example acupuncture, stress relief, physiotherapy.
