Stress-Triggered Urinary Incontinence

Urination in connection with physical activity like coughing, sneezing, laughter or running. You can treat stress-triggered urinary incontinence yourself by exercising your pelvic floor, using aids, weight loss and by counteracting constipation.

Exercising your pelvic floor
Exercising your pelvic floor may help with your nuisances. It is performed by contracting the muscles of the pelvic floor – this is called the Kegel exercises. You must perform 20 squeezes of 6-8 seconds duration three times every day. You can feel for yourself whether you squeeze in the right manner by inserting to fingers in your vagina. If you do it right the vagina squeezes your fingers when you squeeze.

It takes 2-3 months to train the muscles of the pelvic floor to their best – so you must be patient – but it is worth the while.

Aids
There are several different kinds of aids that can help you with stress-triggered urinary incontinence. The most used are panty liners, diapers, vaginal plugs (tampons) and Jade eggs for the vagina.

Vaginal plugs are inserted in your vagina and stop leaks so you can jump around and dance again without leaking.

Other
If you suffer from constipation, it worsens your nuisances. Therefore you should eat whole grain, drink 1,5 litre fluid a day and possible eat bran or fibrous diet.

If you weigh too much, it will also worsen your nuisances. Regular exercise and healthy food is important if you want to lose weight.
