Which Painkilling Remedies are there?
Remedies that brings soothing of pain are divided into three groups:
1) weak painkilling remedies
2) strong painkilling remedies
3) other painkilling remedies
1) Weak
The weak painkilling remedies consists of arthritis remedies, paracetamol and aspirin. Paracetamol and a few of the arthritis remedies can be bought over the counter, but most arthritis remedies require a prescription. The different arthritis remedies basically have the same effect on pain. Since paracetamol and arthritis remedies deal with the pain in different ways, it can be a good idea to combine the two groups. Talk to your doctor about this.
The weak painkilling remedies are used for weaker tissue pain like tooth ache, muscle pain, joint pain, headache and menstrual pain.
2) Strong
Morphine is typical for this group. Furthermore, there is a range of painkilling remedies that more or less resemble morphine.
The different painkilling remedies in the group differ from each other with regard to how long time they have effect, side-effects and the manner in which you consume the painkilling remedies. Some of the painkilling remedies have effect for a few hours, others for many hours and are therefore called depot medication. With regard to side effects there are differences between the individual painkilling remedies.
The strong remedies are used for strong pain and work on both acute tissue pain, cancer pain and chronic pain. The effect on nerve pain is limited but a few strong painkilling remedies can be used on this type of pain with good effect.
3) Other
The group consists of different painkilling remedies that in fact are developed for illnesses where pain has no dominance. It concerns medication for depression and cramps.
These painkilling remedies are used especially for treatment of nerve pain like for example following a stroke, diabetes or cancer.
