Different Ways of Taking Your Medication
You can take painkilling remedies in many different ways. As a mixture, tablets, suppositories or band-aids. The doctor can administer painkilling medication as an injection or through pumps and other technical measures.
It can be a good idea to be able to take the painkilling medication in different ways. If, for example, the ill person cannot swallow tablets or drink a mixture – it can be because of either nausea or vomiting – the painkilling medication can be taken as suppositories in the rectum or through a band-aid on the skin.
It is only rarely needed to administer painkilling medication as injection – but it can be appropriate in the case of acute strong pain with vomiting like for example is the case with a coronary thrombosis, gall stone or kidney stone.
The strong painkilling remedies can also be administered through a small plastic catheter under the skin where the ill person is able to control on his or her own how much medicine to administer. Finally, the strong painkilling remedies can be administered directly into the cavity surrounding the spine.
