How is Discharge experienced?
Discharge can be a nuisance and can lead to worry about having contracted a venereal disease.
This is how some women describe their discharge:
‘I had “trouble” with a having much discharge for a long time. It is almost always “transparent” but once a while it is yellowish. It does not really smell, but I almost always have to use a panty liner because otherwise (when it is worst) it feels like I have peed my pants.’
‘I am a woman of 33 years and have just had my second child. Unfortunately, I have been acutely admitted to a hospital twice in 3 months after the birth because of infection in the abdomen. It has been tough. Lately, I have had some yellowish discharge. I think it is entirely normal. However, I am of course afraid that the infection in the abdomen will return and I am therefore very attentive to the discharge. Now, I have experienced a little brown discharge, the size of a thumbnail, and now I am afraid that it will return.’
‘My discharge is ruining my sex life. Every time I have sex with my boyfriend it itches and smarts. I have had several incidents of fungus and have had several different kinds of medication. It disappears for a period but it always returns.’
As you can see in the descriptions above, discharge from the vagina can lead to anxiety for contracting serious illnesses, destroy your sex life and necessitate daily use of panty liners. Luckily, effective medication exists for far most women with bothering discharge.
